President Jacob Zuma ordered to return $500,000 of public funds

The Constitutional Court of South Africa has ordered South African president Jacob Zuma, to pay back the sum of $500,000.

The said sum was believed to be used for the personal upgrades made to his ancestral home in Nkandla.

The Treasury said that Mr. Zuma should pay back $509,000 for the upgrades to his home. He has been given a 45-day ultimatum to follow through with this request.

President Zuma could face indictment by the main opposition party, the Democratic Alliance (DA), who believe that the said sum was too low.

The calculations by the Treasury will be reviewed by the Constitutional Court.
South Africa's revolutionary socialist party, the Economic Freedom Fighters has said, "Zuma paying is an admission of guilt. The next step is criminal charges."
