Michael Carrick has agreed a new contract at Manchester United, according to Perth Glory CEO Peter Filopoulos.
Carrick was out of contract at Old Trafford this summer
and was expected to leave the club had Louis van Gaal remained in
charge.
However, new manager Jose Mourinho is understood to be
keen to keep the England international.
The veteran midfielder's current contract expires in the
summer and he has been approached by Perth over a move to the Australian
A-League.
The Red Devils are yet to confirm the deal, but Filopoulos admits Perth
hoped to persuade Carrick to move to the A League through his
relationship with Glory captain Richard Garcia, who was the
34-year-old’s best man at his wedding.
